Alma Derway Scholarship

This scholarship is named for Alma Derway, CSPAN’s first President and a founding member of ASPAN.

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to CSPAN members who aspire to enhance and increase knowledge for the benefit of the patients they attend.

• Community outreach/Medical Missionary Work/ Public Health Services
• Continuing education

Attendance at an educational offering/ASPAN National Conference

Award: $300.00 scholarship

Eligibility: CSPAN members who meet the following criteria are eligible for the scholarship.

• Must be a registered nurse with a current CT license
• Must be a member of CSPAN/ASPAN
• Must attend 2 CSPAN meeting in the year prior to the date of the application.
• Must be employed in Phase I or Phase II peri-anesthesia setting.
• Within 30 days of the completion of the activity applied for, write a brief synopsis to be sent to The Stretcher Scene.

Selection:

• CSPAN
• Board of Directors will review and evaluate all applications and select scholarship recipient
• Scholarship recipients will be notified by email.
• Only one scholarship will be awarded per calendar year.
• The name of the recipient will be published in Stretch Scene.
• Scholarship recipients may not reapply for a period of 2 years.

Application Process:

• Complete and sign application form. Attach a photocopy of current CSPAN/ASPAN membership
• Submit a brief statement regarding your professional background and participation in any phase of peri-anesthesia nursing. Including why receiving the scholarship will enhance your ability to care for the peri-anesthesia patient.
• Mail to Immediate Past President – name and address can be found in Stretcher Scene
